Large Triangular Airfield

  • SURFACES The flying season starts earlier for our airfield compared to others because its location allows the runway to dry quickly during early spring.

GCC members can benefit from optimal gliding conditions early in April and May, which is crucial for glider pilots as spring offers the best flying conditions.
  • SAFETY The airfields enhance glider safety at the club by providing dual runways. This prevents simultaneous landings on the grass and asphalt runways, as one plane can use each runway.

Having north/south, east/west, and NW/SE facing runways ensures taking-offs and landings are into wind or reduced crosswinds, thus reducing risk for student pilots.
